Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler

Let the good times roll. That's right guys its Mardi Gras!!!!! 🎉 So basically.. Mardi Gras is a time to pig out, feast and enjoy yourself before lent. According to history.com Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville, a French explorer for the holiday. He anchored at a port close to NOLA and had a celebration to honor getting to land and Fat Tuesday.

I was lucky enough to attend Mardi Gras many moons ago. My ex-husband has family down there and we took a road trip to visit them. It was an amazing trip and I am so thankful I was able to experience it!

A few fun facts about Mardi Gras:

It is always the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.
The official colors are purple, gold and green.
King Cake is eaten!
The first parade was in 1837
Masks(not COVID masks, but decorative) are required by law to be worn by float riders.

Unfortunately, this year the parades are being cancelled BUT the tradition will still live on with other COVID safe events that will be taking place through out the city.
